Melbourne Freeway & Arterial Network Performance Dashboard

Business problem: A transport operations team needed 1.49 billion raw detector observations turned into clear signals of where and when the network runs slow, to prioritise monitoring and operational response.

Engineered an 87.5M row detector dataset in SQL Server into a reconciled star schema reporting model, with every figure tying back to a single 1.49B vehicle anchor.
Built a site relative congestion proxy: the share of traffic running below each site’s own normal speed across 297 active sites and every 15 minute interval.
Delivered a four page Power BI dashboard: executive overview, site & direction performance, peak period pressure and prioritised recommendations.

Decision value: Helps an operations team decide which corridors and time windows to monitor and respond to first, with an honest, defensible method.
